Message from the Principal

Dear Students, Parents/Guardians, Families, Elders,                       ...and members of the Arapahoe community:

Welcome to a new school year at Arapahoe Elementary School!  My name is Mr. Jeff Fuller, and I am excited to serve as your principal.  I was born and raised in South Dakota.  I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education & Meteorology from Florida State University.  My corresponding classes for meteorology gave me minors in Math and Physics.  South Dakota State University awarded a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership to me.  I completed this degree through their local program in Gillette.

This is my 17th year working in education and seventh year in Wyoming.  My experience includes being a teacher in Third Grade, Fourth Grade, and Fifth Grade.  I also worked as a Special Education Paraprofessional in Kindergarten and First Grade during this time.

What I bring to FCSD #38 is those years as a teacher as well as over 10 years working in the private sector.  I am privileged to be a part of your life and your child’s education.  My commitments to all of you are:
Making our school a safe and positive learning environment
Helping children feel nurtured and cared for by all adults
Ensuring that our kids receive an exceptional education
Reassuring students that our school is a safe environment where their culture is celebrated and utilized to improve their learning
Continuing to build on and improve our expectations for all students

We are continuing the Falcon Pride program through our school wide Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) initiative from the past two years.  More details about this program are included in the handbook.  Please take some time to read what this program means and how it applies to you student.

The student and parent handbook has been revised with the attempt to establishing a school environment & culture that is positive, caring, and nurturing while still maintaining high expectations of students and teachers.  Change can be scary and exciting at the same time.  Working together we will make positive strides to ensure an amazing year for our entire school community.

This October is the on-site review year for the State of Wyoming’s public school accreditation process.  Your child will be sharing things we are doing at school to help our staff and students prepare for the visit from the accreditation team.  Two things that will become familiar for kids are Arapahoe School’s Purpose and Direction statements.  We continue implementing Wyoming’s State Standards in various subjects so our children are prepared for middle & high school, college, and the work force of the 21st century.

Our staff continues pursuing professional growth so we can help our students excel academically.  We are also committed to pursuing excellence within our wider school community.   Modeling respect, caring for one another, and maintaining a focus on responsibility and independent learning remain part of our core values.

Parents, we welcome your involvement.  With your help, I know we can make this one of the best years ever at Arapahoe Elementary School. Go FALCONS!!

Sincerely,
Mr. Fuller
