School Nurse

Reminders from the nurse

We are excited for you to be back in school with us! I wanted to let you know a few things before school gets started.

  • Every child must be up to date on their immunizations. Please see your doctor  to have this done before school starts, this is also a good time for a wellness visit. Provide the school nurse with the current record.

Children 4-5yrs old need their Kindergarten shots and 11-12 yr olds need their shots before entering the 6th grade.

  • If your child is playing a sport they must have a physical on file in order to participate in any sport.

  • If your child needs medication at school, you will need to complete a consent form and bring the medication in its original container labeled properly with the student's name, medication and dose. This needs to be signed by your physician. Student’s are not allowed to transport medication.

  • The school will not be providing any over the counter medication such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen or cough drops. The parent/guardians will be responsible for providing all over the counter medication. A consent form must be completed and signed by both the parent/guardian and physician to administer over the counter medications.

  • A fever is 100.4 or above. Your child should not come to school until they are fever free without any medication for 24 hours. Please do not give your child Tylenol or Mortin and then send them to school.

  • Please provide the school nurse with any severe allergies, surgeries, or new health concerns that have occured during the summer or throughout the school year.

  • We want your child in school except when they are sick.

  • If your child is placed on antibiotics for strep throat or pink eye, they may return to school after they have received the antibiotics for 24 hours.

  • It is very important that we are able to reach you in case of an emergency, accidents or illness-Please keep phone numbers and addresses up to date.

  • Please list the people that can pick up your child on your behalf as emergency contacts. If they are not listed they will not be able to pick up your child.

I look forward to working with you and caring for your child during the upcoming school year. I want us to be a team and work together to ensure your child is cared for here at school and home. Feel free to contact  me with any questions or concerns. 307-856-9333 ext 150
