Woxu’ Niibei Lucy Willow
Woxu’ Niibei Lucy Willow was born October 12, 1922 in a tent by a River in lower Arapahoe.
She attended school at St Michaels, St Stephens and Lander High School. She had to drop out because her brother Sherman passed away during WWII. She had to take over family duties at that time. She always wanted a high school diploma and always stressed the importance of education. She received her High School Diploma from Arapaho Charter High School.
She played basketball in her younger years. Her uncle Martin Underwood would teach her plays.
She worked at Arapahoe schools as a grandma and always stressed the importance of “keeping busy”. She sewed, beaded and made tipis. Everyone loved her bread! She was an Arapaho language speaker and faithful in the Catholic Church. She always stressed the rosary and faith and prayer.
Her family would like to thank all the students for loving, honoring and remembering her.

ACHS students in the Bring Change To Mind Club held a recruitment meeting today to introduce interested students to the club's mission: promoting the importance of mental health and erasing the stigma that surrounds mental health issues. They created a positive message board for students to use if they need a little "pick me up" and are encouraging ACHS students to create their own to share.

ACHS Student of the Week is Kenya Rhodes! Kenya, the daughter of Matthew Rhodes and Andrea Blackburn, is a 10th grade student at Arapaho Charter High School. She is crushing all As in her courses through 1st quarter, and showing no signs of slowing down academically. Her academic excellence and positive presence at ACHS are the key reasons she was nominated for this award by multiple teachers. One teacher writes “Kenya is thoughtful, diligent and kind. She works hard on her independent study course, and is utilizing strategies to help her avoid distraction in completing her assignments. Kenya is taking on additional hours at work to help her family and is a good big sister to her siblings. Kenya asks great questions, is a great listener, and is always looking to learn more. She is a pleasure to have in class and brings out the best in her classmates by being a friend and role model.”Another says “She comes to class with a positive attitude and always gives 100%. She wants to learn and always asking questions to better herself. She is a role model and actively encourages everyone to participate.”

On Oct. 4th Arapahoe School students traveled to Jackson to take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony for a new mural to be installed in Garaman Park. School Board member Pat Moss also attended the ribbon cutting ceremony! Not only was this special because Arapahoe School Students painted the mural, but they also included his father, Pius Moss, in the painting!

On Oct. 4th Arapahoe School students traveled to Jackson to take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony for a new mural to be installed in Garaman Park.
During summer school, students spent their efforts working on the painting. Once the 80ft mural was up, students were able to observe what they created.
HoHou to everyone involved, and HoHou for representing the "Hinono’eino’ (Arapaho) lifeway", in a significant way.
